Festivals

South Orange County Roleabout
This is a festival at an undisclosed location for the 2007. In the weeks preceding the festival we pick and prepare a number of pieces for different catatgories. Once there we will perform in the morning, later the finalists will be called back for each category. The first, second, and third place winners are then announced at the Closing Ceremony. It is a fun festival that takes place on a Saturday all day. It focuses on roles (hence the name) instead of costumes and sets. Only sophomores, juniors and seniors from the Advanced Drama and Actor's Repertory class can attend this festival.

Cal State Fullerton College Festival
The one truly "technical" festival. For this festival, members of Tesoro Theatre Arts travel to California State University, Fullerton to take classes to learn a bit more about the technical apspects of theatre. At the festival we take three classes. At the end of the day we may also view one of the great CSUF shows. This takes up about half a day on a Saturday. Only members of the Advanced Drama and Actor's Repertory class my attend.

CETA Festival
Each year the Southern Region of CETA holds its High School Theatre Festival during Saturday and Sunday of Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend. The 2-day festival showcases three mainstage shows which have been selected from each of the regions of Southern California: Los Angeles/Orange Counties, the Inland Empire, and San Diego County. Additionally, in "Scenefest," nine schools are selected to perform 10-minute scenes from their productions. The weekend offers countless opportunities for high schools students and their teachers. Professional Theatre Artists lead workshops throughout Saturday afternoon; CETA-South sponsors students and teachers for California Youth in Theatre Day; Comedysportz performs Saturday evening; Sceneworks, a scene competition for those not performing on the Mainstage takes place; students can enter a Film Festival competition; Seniors can audition for schools and industry professionals; and awards for all aspects of the festival are handed out on Sunday. As previoulsy stated it is a two-day overnight festival. This festival is open to the cast and crew of our Fall Play, members of our Thespian Society, members of Advanced Drama, and Actor's Repertory.

Fullerton Junior College Festival
Over 2,000 competitors from over 60 high schools visit the Fullerton College campus for 2 days of acting, design competition and theme related activities. In addition to competition in 13 different categories, they host a variety of theatre workshops throughout the weekend. In addition to their traditional audition, voice, dance, and stage combat workshops, their new focus will be on helping high school students explore a variety of career options in the entertainment world. The encampment for participating high schools will be located on the grassy area on the southeast corner of Lemon and Chapman Avenues adjacent to Wilshire Auditorium.

Long Beach Festival
The California State University, Long Beach Theatre fesival is much like the Fullerton Junior College Festival. We prepare a number of pieces that fit into many different categories that we then perform over a span of two days. Thespians, members of Advanced Drama, and Actor's Repertory classes may attend.
