Class Information
Beginning Drama 1A/1B
Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 Periods 2 and 3 (Theatre)
Beginning Drama 1A & 1B is a theatre class which meets the fine art requirement for graduation. A full year of Beginning Drama also meets the CSU and UC requirements for admission. It is designed to introduce the student to beginning acting techniques and theatre appreciation. The class will cover: team work, relaxation, concentration, movement and pantomime, voice and public speaking, play analysis, acting basics and skills, improvisational skills, character analysis and performance, scene work, monologues, audition skills, theatre vocabulary, and theatre history. The class is aligned with the CA State Standards.

Advanced Drama
Grades 10, 11, and 12 Period 4 (Theatre)
Advanced Drama is a theatre class for those students who have enjoyed and passed Drama 1A & 1B with a “B” or better. It is designed to build upon past theatre experiences and enhance skills. The class is aligned with the CA State Standards. The class will cover: ensemble work/team work, movement, voice, scene and play analysis, scene work including an emphasis on objectives and obstacles, improvisational skills, character analysis and performance, monologues, audition skills, career paths, and theatre history with an emphasis on performing the classics.

Actors' Repertory
Grades 11 and 12 (Audition Only) Period 6 (Theatre)
Actors' Repertory is a theatre class for those students who have enjoyed and passed Advanced Drama with a “B” or better and have auditioned successfully. It is designed to observe theatre in a philosophical fashion as well as to enhance one’s skills. During the school year those select students in the Actor’s Repertory class will attend the Mission Viejo Roleabout Festival, the Fullerton College Theatre Festival, the Long Beach Theatre Festival, and will put on Three different shows in three consecutive nights known as “Three Plays in Three Days.”

Stagecraft
Grades 10, 11 and 12
Possibly Period 2/5 (Theatre/Stagecraft Room)
Stagecraft is being offered for the first time for the 2007-2008 school year! This class will learn the technical aspects of theatre unlike any of the other classes offered. The class will help build the set, help set up lighting, sound equipment, and help out with many other important "behind the scenes" aspects of theatre.

Musical
Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 (Audition Only) Period 7 (Theatre)
The Musical, is a production and a class for those students who have shown interest in the Spring Musical and have auditioned successfully. The Musical is counted as a 7th period so it is possible to keep all of one’s classes, but influences the students to commit to the show by having a grade. Throughout the second semester those in the Musical must attend every rehearsal assigned (There are NO excused absences), be on time for all rehearsals and shows, attend cast meetings, and attend the CAPPIES and MACY’s awards ceremonies at the end of the year.
